Hello...
I am new to the MQAdmin world, and have a question regarding the SYSTEM.ADMIN.CHANNEL.EVENT Queue. I saw that the Maximum Queue Depth is set to 3000 messages, and this is slowly but surely getting reached throughout the last few weeks. I advised that I want to clear these queues in the Test regions, but was told that you can't simply just clear the queues of messages, as things will get out of sync. What do I need to do to clear the queue and ensure that nothing else is impacted?
Any help is appreciated.

No they won't. You can just clear these if you don't need them. These messages are just notifications of changes to Channel Status. Channel starting, channel stopping etc.
If you don't have any need to look at these messages and don't want the bother of having to remember to clear them out, then either remove, or PUT Disable this queue.

Ok, I spoke with one of the Unix Admins here who had cleared the SYSTEM.ADMIN.CHANNEL.EVENT Queue on Unix once, and he advised that the Channel Sequence number on the remote side went to 0, and on the local mainframe side stayed at 1 so they were out of sync. This being the case, will this also occur again if I clear the SYSTEM.ADMIN.CHANNEL.EVENT Queue on the remote Unix side without doing any changes to the sequence number on the Channels (remote and local)? |

That information is kept in the SYSTEM.CHANNEL.SYNCQ. And it's only kept for the local QM. The remote side has it's own copy. When a channel starts, the 2 QMs check to see if they both have the same sequence number.
All of the SYSTEM.ADMIN.* queues are for event reporting only.

So the CHANNEL.EVENT queue has nothing to do with the SYNC queue when messages are cleared from the CHANNEL.EVENT queue??
Why even have the event queue if you put inhibit it?
Thanks,
Barry
Sorry for all of the questions, but I'm new to this. |
