to all newbies,
this is your change!!! let us know what could be improved in these forums, what did you miss, what was not clear, etc...
Most of the regulars here are so familiar with mqseries.net so we are a little bit 'blind' or we lack as funny as it sounds 'newbie experience'
Please post you comments here!

Can I add a comment here (as a newbie...?), the one thing I find hard is that I try to use the "view all posts since my last visit" to see what has been posted and is worth looking at. However, if I close the window accidentally I cant get that view again.
Is there anyway of having an option of seeing all new posts over the last day (or configurable number of days)? |

yes!!!
I had that same problem, go into search, go to search for author field (the second )
use * and in the search options
use the period drop down and select 1 Day...
Keep this window open and refresh during the day, use open in new window to view a post...

Yeah,
I should probably think about making that particular query a hotlink in the navbar somewhere...
called "all posts in last 24 hours" or something... _________________ Brandon Duncan

that would be way cool!
may I suggest to put a "read posts" in between to top items "forums" and "repository",
drop downs would be "latest posts since visited" (which is now on the "forums" top item) and "posts last 24 hours".
This may possibly also avoid newbies to post in the wrong forum.

Just new here, so noticed that there's no particular MS .NET-related topic areas. That might be a good thing to add. _________________ "...a long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right..." [Tom Paine] |

Hi,
Please post your MQ & .NET questions in the MQSeries API forum (assuming they are programming related).

Would it be possible to get a Websphere Application Server forum added? Would be nice now that IBM has added so many products under the Websphere umbrella
Other than that I really can't think of anything else.
Thanks for the great site _________________ Cheers!!

One thing I've noticed: if I do a search I get a page with hits for my search. When I click one of those and then try to return to the search screen with my back button it complains that the page has expired and I have to hit refresh and then answer a dialog before returning to the list. Is there some way it can be changed to retain the list (like Google does) without having to constantly refresh? Or maybe if a click from a search results list would open a new window?
GREAT site! I've learned a lot and find that I use it almost every day in supporting MQ. |

As a newbie with some knowledge and trying to answer some of the problems, could we if possible get a little form when posting the first posting in the thread that would force to describe the environment:
OS, Hardware, Version, Soft etc... with check buttons so we can check multiple
Ex OS product version CSD
Solaris MQ 5.3 06
aix MQ 5.2 08
nt
xp
as400
os390 MQ 2.1 ??
This would give the person looking at the posting a quick view of the environment instead of having to guess half of it from the posting's content
Thanks

Bruce,
What browser/version are you using? And do you have caching turned on or off?
When I read you post I couldn't remember ever seeing what you described, and I tried to reproduce it but was unable. I can click back on my browser to return to a search results page without any problems.
I have a feeling most other people don't experience this either, otherwise I would have heard about it a long time ago... _________________ Brandon Duncan

Brandon,
Thanks for investigating. My browser is IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633CO. I *think* I have caching turned on, but not 100% sure how to check. This could very well be a problem with my browser setup because recently I have noticed other weirdness, such as anytime I click a link that should initiate a download to my PC the downloading box flashes quickly but nothing ever comes to my hard drive. In those situations I always have to RIGHT-click the link and then choose "Save Target As..." or whatever the real words are. Any hints you can give about things I can check will be appreciated; I'm much more conversant in UNIX than Windows.
