Coming out of a Mapping Node, my message set is lost.
This used to work fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to how this would happen?

Fix Pack 01. Does Fix Pack 02 need to be installed before applying Fix Pack 03?

No! You can install FP3 directly and it will include fixes for FP2 also.

I've seen this before.

Sometimes the some or all target message properties can appear to be set in the mapping node but are not really set.

Go to the mapping node and clear and redefine the target message properties. (all of them)

Save Deploy and try again.
