Hi,
We have experienced pkgadd of CSD5 taking around 20 minutes. This has happened several times. Have anybody come across this before?
Thanks

Hi,
When applying this CSD, it took approx 10-15 minutes.
As a side issue, does the Solaris box need re-booting after applying the CSD or do kernel parameters need to be changed..?
I ask this as after the 'successful' installation of the CSD, the QM starts and I can run 'runmqsc' however if I try to display any objects, the 'runmqsc' screen ends and the QM can no longer be accessed. If I remove the CSD, all is ok.
Do you have any ideas what the problem could be..?
Cheers. |

Are there any FDCs, error messages in the log? I would expect there to be some kind of error that would shed further light on what is wrong. |

Hhhmm..... I hope I can help...
Regarding the if you need to reboot solaris after applying CSD 5 on MQ v5.3....... Nope, I've applied this fix-pack a few times and i haven't experienced or done rebooting the machine. The kernel parameters should have been set when you installed MQ v5.3 on your machine.
But, it won't hurt if you reboot your machine after applying the fix-pack, 'coz on HP-UX i had to reboot the machine. The reason is that the semaphores even though i've done ipcrm still "knows" that it is still loaded.
And, did you check the /var/mqm/errors if there are FDC and/or AMQERR error files/logs? You can also check /var/mqm/qmgrs/<QMGR>/errors for AMQERR error logs/files. There you can determine the cause of the failure of your QM not loading.
I hope that helps.
As for the 20mins run of the CSD, that happens sometimes when there is a lot of activity on your machine. Meaning, your machine runs or has other applications other than MQ. _________________ Jed |
