All:

If you get a CD from a vendor at a conference, would you actually install / test the product?

I was wondering if along with handing out flyers at the T&M Conference (MQ Conf.), should I also hand out a CD of my software (MQ Visual Edit and MQ Visual Browse)?

- Half the people I talk to say good idea.
- The other half say they never actaully try out the software they get at a conference and would just prefer to just download the current release from a web site.

Since pressing up 1500 CD for the T&M Conference (plus shipping costs) will not be cheap, I would like to here from the people of www.mqseries.net . Since the members of www.mqseries.net are a good snapshot of the MQ community as a whole, what do you think?

Please be honest. Thanks.

Regards,
Roger Lacroix

Roger,
you could always press some CD's for Backup or people who don't have internet access...
If a tool is 300MB then I would prefer a CD, on the other hand if downloading is easy (like with VisualEdit/Browse)
I wouldn't spend a lot of money on getting 1500 CD's.

Roger -
When it comes right down to it, the answer to this for me is:

It Depends.

If I'm strolling through some conference floor, and somebody shoves a CD into my hands of something really useful like a demo version of "JCL for Visual Basic Developers"... I'm not likely to try it.

Roger, I have *always* tried installing and playing with any new product that i have come accross. If i liked the feel of it to begin with, i spent a little more time, or even made it a part of my utils/tools to use. But otherwise, it just goes on the shelf. :)

I would say, it all depends on how you present. If you can raise the curiosity level of the Visitor, visiting you, then he/she would definitely want to try it out at least once.

But again, i wouldnt make 1500 cd's. The less you make, the better. It has to be first-come-first serve basis. If you keep offering everone even towards the end of the conf, then you probably have too much supply. Create the demand, i guess. :)

All IMHO.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Cheers
Kumar

I have seen COBOL on Windows with DB2 procedure binding.

I have seen COBOL being used as a web scripting language.

Anything is possible.

But I am still not a COBOL programmer, thank you.
