On one of our unix machines we have hit a too many processes limit. Out of 2300 processes 1950 are amqzlaa0, many of these are dated in the past and I suspect they are orphan processes. Can anyone direct me to a detailed explanation of the MQ processes so I can find out what they do, when they should be around and when they can be killed.
Thanks |

amqzlaao is the agent process that runs on behalf of your MQ applications. My guess would be that you are running a lot of clients and that they never bother to disconnect. Try issuing a netstat -a to see what it gives. If this is the case, there have been fixes put in to help with their clean-up. What version of the code are you running?
The following is also useful in wondering what processes are what:

I saw the same thing. Are you using WebSphere Application Server or any java client connections? |
