Hi,
I have 25,000 PDA's each with there own MQe queue manager. I need to send messages from a WMQI Broker via MQ to the MQe Bridge. I do not however want to define 25,000 remote queues !
How can I send messages for queue manager PDA.1 to the MQe Bridge without defining a remote queue, or can one remote queue recieve messages for all the queue managers?
One solution I had was to set the queue manager property 'Default Transmission Queue' to that of the bridges transmission queue.
However I would prefer not to have to set this at queue manager level as the queue manager is used for other work.
Thanks

I think you mentioned all options available at disposal here. :)
This question doesnt really pertain to MQe as such. Its just a general MQ design question, IMO. If you have 25K qmgrs wanting to communicate to a single point of contact QM(in this case a qm on MQ network), then you have to define as many remote queues to communicate with the remote queue manager/s.
What i dont understand is, if you have a scenario where you have defined 25K Queue managers(which must have consumed most of your time), whats the issue with not wanting to create a single remote queue on each one of them. Assuming that you had another option, why would you want to choose that instead of defining remote queues. Just a thought.
Cheers

I don't think that you define qmgrs to WMQe in the normal WMQ manner. I thought that it was done programatically which is why their creation would be simple and the remote queue definitions a nightmare.
However, the only advice that I can offer on this is to try posting in the Everyplace forum and see if you can get an answer. I have a WMQe co-worker who is out this week. When he returns, I'll run this by him. |

Hi Kumar,
Basically there are 25K PDA's all with a temporary MQe environment defined (same qmgr name and queues on each). When the PDA is switched on for the first time it send a message to the MQe gateway which in turn sends the message to the WMQI Broker hub. A WMQI flow generates a new qmgr name, appends to it an xml message and sends it back to the gateway, where the PDA picks up the message and defines its operational messaging environment.
That all works fine.
Now, in its operational life, all the PDA's will need to receive messages from the WMQI Broker via the gateway.
The Broker will receieve a message from an application and look up which PDA it should be sent to based on key reference fields within the message, now comes the problem.
When I send the message from the Broker with the PDA's qmgr and queue specified, there would have to be a remote queue defined on the Brokers qmgr with the PDA's qmgr and the gateways transmission queue (i.e. 25K ,one for each PDA) . If no remote queue existed then the message would end up on the Dead Letter Queue unless....
I was to define the gateways tranmission queue as the qmgrs default tranmission queue, I don't really want to do this either as the Brokers queue manager is used by other applications as well. Also I will need to be able to send to mulitple gateways (regional).
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks

Thanks mqonnet & bower5932, I'll put my last post on the MQe forum and see what comes from that. |
