All,
I'm wanting some ideas as to if this a good idea or not and if so, why not?
I'm implenting Parallel Sysplex along with MQ Clustering to do system failover/cutover.
MQ1 - LPAR1 (Full Repos) z/OS
MQ2 - LPAR2 (Full Repos) z/OS
MQx - ServerX (Partial Repos) W2K
MC76 Support Pac for notion of primary/secondary channels to MQ1 & MQ2
Normally, all traffic will be flowing to MQ1. During an IPL or MVS system maintence traffic well be going to MQ2.
These maintence windows could last 1 - 4 or 5 hours. What I want is once MQ1 is available for work, traffic will start flowing back on that channel rather quickly. Not the 20mins it could take for LONGRTY to start the retrying channel.
What I've done is changed SHORTRTY to 240 that gives 4 hours before long retry will kick in <SHORTTMR is still set at the default of 60>. In theory that should be about long enough to cover the window.
Any reason that is bad idea or shouldn't be changed, or is there a better way?
Thanks, |

No problem, just be aware that every time the channel retries, it will write an entry to the AMQERROR log.
You can increase the size of these logs by setting the MQMAXERRORLOGSIZE variable. Up to 1 000 000 on UNIX, no limit on Windows. This will make your logs that much bigger and prevent RETRY messages from filling up your logs, pushing off "real" error messages if they exist. _________________ Peter Potkay
