we have 2 production servers, one image copied from another one, both now running same queue managers... I was under the impression you cannot have same queue manager running on another server within the network. Is it true? Is there any issues with this setup?

Its not a good idea. If you ever go into (MQ) clustering it will cause problems, and you no longer are guaranteed unique msgids/correlids (since they are generated including the qmgr name, timestamp, counter etc).
