Hi,
I am facing issues while installing WBIMB 5.0 on my AIX 5.2 machine.
While installing, it gave an error and aborted, saying.. examine /var/adm/sw/mqsi5.log for errors.
When examined the mqsi5.log file, it read
/usr/opt/mqsi/merant/odbc.ini does not exist on filesystem.
Question:
Isn't the installation supposed to create the filesystem /usr/opt/mqsi and the subsequent files/directories under it?
Then why the above error??
Thanks in advance..
Cheers,
Vishal |

Are you saying that the filesystem doesn't exist or is it that WMQIMB couldn't locate the .odbc.ini file? Did you create a version of the .odbc.ini file and point to it using the system environment parameter ODBCINI? The odbc.ini file referenced in the text of your error is a template that is provided to assist you with developing your own .odbc.ini file.
The following excerpt is from the v5.0 installation manual (Chapter Defining an ODBC connection on Unix platforms on page 123):
Quote: |
In the UNIX environment, there is no ODBC Administrator or Driver Manager. To configure an ODBC data source name (DSN) definition, you must edit the required system information, which is held in a plain text file called .odbc.ini (note that the name of this file starts with a period). This file must be created in the directory identified by the ODBCINI environment variable. If the variable is not set, the directory defaults to the /var/wmqi/odbc directory, which is created when WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker is installed. The file must have file permissions of mqm:mqbrkrs. A sample template is provided as the file <install_dir>/wmqi/merant/odbc.ini which contains examples of how to configure a DSN residing in each of the databases supported by WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker. The sample template files for the supported platforms are displayed below. They show the recommended configuration for the supported databases. |
