Hi,
I am planning to increase the MQ filesystem on my AIX box. I am running 5.2.0.6 and would like to increase the size of our MQ Filesystem due to large messages.
I would need to rebuild the queue manager because of this. My question is: how would I be able to preserve / save persistant messages that maybe present in any queue while doing this rebuild?
Pls advise. I need to do this asap.
Thanks,
The Queen |

Have an application get all the messages from the queues on the QM you are destryoing, and put them to queues of the same name on another QM. Then reverse the procedure when the new QM is up.
Or, find out if you can delete the messages. MQ is a transport mechanism, not a database facility (although we are all guilty of using it that way sometimes!). See if the app that uses the messages can process them to clean up the queue.
There are also lots of commercially available tools out there that do this. We use QPASA from MQSoftware.
I think Roger's tool also does this. See the forum on this site titled Capitalware. _________________ Peter Potkay

If you have a second QM, the the "q" Support PAc can help.
