Hello,
As a rookie in the WBIMB world I have run in a problem with special characters in a created XML file.
- I receive a file from a AS/400 system and some of the input fields might contain special characters.
- Theses special characters doesn't have a representation that correspond to the expected encoding of the output xml. In my case UTF-8.
- Is there any easy solution to get the broker to check the created output file and if necessary convert any special characters to the required encoding?

we had a slightly similar problem whereby some characters (CRLF, £, [, ]) were not getting translated as expected and, after a reasonable amount of investigation, were unable to identify anything other than the first solution we thought of, which was to CAST the field as a BLOB and then use POSITION to identify the relevent location and SUBSTRING to replace it.
This was using WMQI v2.1 - under WBIMB, I believe you can use REPLACE, but haven't tried it
