The following points/questions all relate to WBIMB.
I'm looking at using CVS as a repository to enable version control and sharing of code across a number of developers. It looks to handle the management of the message flow and set source code reasonably well and I like the way you can tag projects to provide a common reference to a set of code. However, I have a couple of questions as to what happens/what you should do with regards to archiving/deploying, which I would appreciate anyone's viewpoints on.
After you have created a broker archive, is there any way of "looking" at the code/code level within it? I notice that you can add a comment wrt each element of the archive, so i guess it would make sense to tag the project and put the tag level in here, but it doesn't feel particularly foolproof.
Also, after you've created your broker archive, is there any way of checking it in other than exporting it and using the repository commands? And is this something you'd want to do? Or would you simply keep them on a central machine and if you have to recreate them then it's not exactly the trickiest thing in the world to do?
And finally, when you then deploy an archive, is there any way of "looking" at the code/code level within the execution group? It doesn't look like there is and i'm guessing this is something you would want to be able to do.
Any other general thoughts in this area?
