I know I'm a few versions behind, but I don't get to this project as often as I'd like. We're upgrading all desktops to WinXPpro from WinNT4. This is an opportunity to upgrade our MQ client apps as well. We send basic syncronous messages from VB applications (MQ Client V2.1) to our mainframe (MQ server V2.1) which returns the data back to the VB app.

I haven't been able to locate any documentation on this migration.
Does anyone know if I have to step my way up, or can I do it in one jump? Can the server stay at V2.1? Do the client VB apps require any coding changes? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

The server can stay at 2.1 (as long as you dont need functionality that only is available in 5.3 (like SSL)).

You can install 5.3 clients on the XP client machines straight away.
