Hi,
I am planning to use LDAP for my process model's staff definitions. I've defined my staff in MQWF Buildtime, like Persons, Roles and Organizations and now I want to take advantage with LDAP Server. I am using MQWF 3.4 on Windows 2000. Can any of you tell me how do I implement from the beginning.
If I heard correctly, there will be a LDAP bridge software comes along with MQWF 3.4 used for LDAP. But I really don't know how to implement for my model. I would appreciate if you any of you can help me out in this.
Best Regards,
Mike. |

I cannot. But I can tell you where to look for information if you are willing to do it yourself.

I can not tell you either, but I have played with the LDAP bridge, and if you are thinking that you can replace all of your MQWF Staff information with data from the LDAP directory, you are probably in for a big effort.
Keep us posted on how you make out.

jmac: Please elaborate on what you mean by "big effort." What is difficult? Setting up the bridge, matching up the data elements, or something else?
Thanks,

If you want to do away totally with MQWF staff information you are going to have to have all of the Person attributes specified in your LDAP directory. Some such as First name, Middle Name, Last Name, Roles you probably have, but you will not have things like Authorized to the workitems of, Authorized to Categories, Staff Authorization, Process Authorization, Topology Authorization etc. Its matching up the data elements that will be the most effort I would think. I have not used the bridge with V3.4, but used an early version of it, and although it took a little effort, it was mostly because I had no LDAP experience.
Realize that all of this is simply my opinion _________________ John McDonald
