All,
Windows 2K - OS
MQ 5.3
I was looking thru the eventviewer and noticed the following error:
The log for queue manager QMGR1 is full.
This message is issued when an attempt to write a log record is rejected because the log is full. The queue manager will attempt to resolve the problem.
This situation may be encountered during a period of unusually high message traffic. However, if you persistently fill the log, you may have to consider enlarging the size of the log. You can either increase the number of log files by changing the values in the queue manager configuration file. You will then have to stop and restart the queue manager. Alternatively, if you need to make the log files themselves bigger, you will have to delete and recreate the queue manager.
What are these log files used for?
What kind of information is written to them?
<Applications using this queue manager seem to still be functioning.>
Is there a way to clear them out for example Start/Stop the QMGR or does it page data in & out - being full is only a temporary condition?
Sorry for the broad range of questions..this is the first time I've encountered this on NT.
Thanks,

You can hit this for lots of reasons, including your logs are too small to hold the data required, but is often caused by a long running transaction (put/get under sync, no commit/back) or (I think) indoubt channels. Other reasons include externally coordinated prepared transactions, but the first thing to ensure is the log is large enough for the activity your qmgr is expecting. The manual referenced should indicate more about logging. |
