Hi ,

Currently we have around 20 Local Queues in our production system . Average msg rate is around 35/sec in each queue .

now we want to merge all the local queues . i.e we want to eliminate all the 20 Queues and have a single Queue . in that case there would be around 650-700 msgs/ sec into that queue .

Could anybody help me out in understanding the implicacies that could happend because of having a single Local Queue or any documentation that could help.

thanx in advance.

Why do you want to eliminate all these queues and combined them into one?

If you are going to have 20 different applications all trying to read and write different things, then it's best to have 20 queues.

If you have, instead one application reading and writing one thing from 20 queues, then it makes sense to merge them.

Jeff,

I do understand your point , we have only one application reading from the queue and multiple mq client putting msgs on to the queue .

My concern is more towards the performance impact . i think we know that mq internally allocates threads to process . have 20 queues would mean more threads allocated to process and hence the application performance would incrase . in the same place having only 1 queue means have less thread allocated which would result in less application performance .

I am taking in these above mentioned respect . could u pls help me out in knowing the thread allocation , any performance degradation that could happen because of only 1 queue - removing 20 queues .
