We need to ensure workload balancing and hot failover condition. We setup a cluster with queue managers QM1 and QM2. They both will have the same applications running and I defined on bothe qmgrs local queues with the same name. I know there are some programming considerations when queues have the same name and workload balancing. now there is a qmgr QM3 that will send messages to the cluster queues (available in the cluster). What definitions should be setup on QM3 to send messages to the cluster considering workload balanceing. I read in the manual that one or two qmgrs should be setup as gateway, but I am not sure it will provide the workload balancing.
Thanks.

Yan,
The easiest way to achieve this would be to introduce QM3 into the cluster. That way, when you put to the queue (that exists on QM1 and QM2), MQSeries will balance the puts (provided the put options are set correctly) across the 2 queues.
If QM3 cannot be made part of the cluster, if you still need load balancing, then you will need another Queue manager in the cluster to act as a gateway.
You cannot use either QM1 or QM2 as the gateway because if you do, all the messages sent in will end up on the queue on that queue manager. They will not be balanced.
The Queue Manager Clusters manual covers this scenario.
Cheers,

Thanks, that is exactly what I expllained to our customer, that we needed to include QM3 in our cluster.
