We are running a test system with a largre number of test queues on it. MQ Visual Edit 1.0.7 can't list the local queues (>500) . When trying to list them and selecting local it displays the information "Retrieving list of queues 1-500" and it runs up to 500 and then displays an empty, grey screen.
We also have aroud 20 remote queues defind. Selcting these and listing them wotks ok.
Is there a maximum number of queues that the application can handle?

Hi,
I have a test queue manager with 2000 queues on it just to test this kind of situation.
Since I rewrote MQVE to use a new threading model, there is a bug that occurs (shows empty list) if the queue manager's command server is not running. I have fix this bug in version 1.1.0 (not yet released). Please check to see if your command server is running (dspmqcsv QMgrName).
I know you say that you can list remote queues but is it from the same queue manager?
I will try to replicate it but I need more info:
- what OS are you running MQVE on?
- what release of of 1.0.7 are you using? i.e. A or B or C (do Help -> About)
- what version of Java are you using? (do Help -> About)
- Are you connecting to the queue manager in binding or client mode?
- How many queues are on your queue manager?

Hi & thansk for your answer.
The remote queues are on the same QM.
I'm running Win 2000
Version 1.0.7C
Java 1.4.2.02
I'm not sure about binding or client, but I assume it's client mode as I'm using tools like MQ-Series Client to connect.
We have about 300 queues on a closer count, local and remote

Humm, that's exactly how my laptop is configured. (Except one of my queue managers has 2000 queues on it. And the list button works fine.)
Binding vs client mode is how you connect to the queue manager. In the "Queue Manager Access Profile", did you specify Channel Name, Hostname/IP and Port number? Or did you leave them blank? (blank would imply binding mode)
Where is the queue manager located? On the same PC as where you are running MQ Visual Edit or on a different box? What version of MQ are you using on the box where the queue manager is running?
There is another little thing that MQVE does that I don't like (yes I know fix it  ), if for a mask you put XYZ.* and you don't have any queues that begin with XYZ then it displays an empty "List of Queues" window. By chance could that be your problem?

Hi again,
We use client connect mode.
The MQ mgr is running on a remote Unix machine.
When listing the queues I use the default option (.*)

Do you really mean ".*" (dot asterisk)? Because that means MQ Visual Edit will only show those queues that begin with a "." (dot).
i.e.
Do you have any queues that begin with a "." (dot)?
Try using just a "*" (Asterisk) and see what happens.
