As you may have noticed Brandon allowed me to moderate the above mentioned Forums.
In total there are not that many topics in those Forums and much information is hidden in the other 45000 posts on this board!
(and although I read a lot I don't have the time to go through them all one by one... )
First request... do you have 'favorite' posts that are valuable to you and use or refer to often?
Please post a reference to either Tips&Tricks or MQSeries FAQ.
Request to 'recent' newbies ... (who are experts by now...! ) did you find these 2 Forums to be of value? or is this the first time you heard of them? do we need to give these Forums a more prominent place?
To everyone... MQSeries FAQ seems clear, Tips&Tricks could be extended to make it more attactive IMHO.
Would you be in favor of renaming it to Best Practices, Tips & Tricks?
More importantly... would you be willing to share your best practices?
Feel free to post your suggestions/comments regarding those 2 Forums here..!
With regard to this community... I like hanging out here and spending my free time ... with around 5400 registered users... let's say there are twice that many people out there really doing 'something' with MQ... makes us pretty unique on a population of 6.000.000.000

Tips&Tricks or MQSeries FAQ
Those 2 forums as is are resemble nothing that their titles would suggest. They are just another 2 forums that users randomly post questions in. To be useful, they should be read only, and someone knowledgable, like a moderator, should actually populate them with relevant topics.
If someone thinks something should be in there, it should be submitted for review by the moderator who makes the decision of whether it should go in there or not. _________________ Peter Potkay

Agree! That's why I want to moderate them

That's over now! Users can still post, but I will move them off to other groups when not appropriate, just like i did cleaning up the News/Updates and the Links forum!

In a 'sense' they are now, I think when we all share the work we will get a good list of topics sooner then going though one person (like me?).
I don't want to be the bottleneck, but do intend to keep those forums 'clean' from now on.
Is this an acceptable solution?

I think the names of the two categories are great. The FAQ area would be a great place for a newbie to go look if he is new to MQ. I'm also always on the search for some kind of tip/trick that might make my life easier.
For what it is worth, the IBM PartnerWorld group has an MQ FAQ site:
http://www.developer.ibm.com/tech/faq/category?catId=401
The MQ FAQs are broken down by various categories. As with all web content, some of them are pretty good and some of them aren't...... |

If people would like the forums to be read-only for the general population, I can make them that way. So Michael doesn't have to waste time moving or deleting stuff people have posted there.
It won't take them long to figure out that they should be trying to post somewhere else.
However, that means that the postings need to be complete, because people won't be able to respond to them either - although I do have the granularity to prevent people from posting new topics, but allow them to respond to existing ones...

I am in favor of keeping the forums open to anyone (for reasons stated above). If the post is not Tips&Tricks or FAQ 'worthy' I'll move it.
Can you change the title of the Tips&Tricks forum, to Best Practices, Tips & Tricks?

Update...
Tips&Tricks has been renamed to Best Practices, Tips & Tricks.
Please post your contributions there, if you feel it belongs in the FAQ, pm me and I'll move it to the FAQ!
