Hi,
I have a triggered queue which has a initiation queue and is responsible for starting a application.
The trigger is set for FIRST. Hence I expect only one instance of an application running for the FIRST message that has arrived. But I see mulitiple instances of the application running, though not equal to the number of messages actually delivered to the queue.
Can anybody tell me in what kind of situations this can happen.
Can there be something wrong with the application thats kicked off or the MQSetup????I am very sure that the trigger is set to FIRST.
Please HELP!!!!!

Hi,
Trigger on FIRST means when the message count goes from 0 -> 1. Therefore, your program is started, it connects, opens the queue and gets the message. Now the queue depth is 0.
Do you close the queue but leave your application running? When the next message is put in the queue (depth 0 -> 1), the queue manager checks the IPPROCS and if it is 0 then queue manager starts your application. Hence, you could end up with many running instances of your application.
Another possibility is do you have the same program triggering from more than 1 queue?
Lastly, double check whether the queue is setup to trigger FIRST or EVERY.

What environment are you running?
There are some circumstances with a shared queue on z series for multiple trigger messages to be generated. These are explaine in the MQ APG.
