Can anyone tell me the pros & cons of installing the configuration manager DB remote as to the same server the Toolkit runs on? _________________ MQSeries, MQSI |

Your toolkit need not run on the same sever where your config mgr is installed. Toolkit is a client application (like Control Center) and it can be installed on any Windows PC. It then connects to the Configuration manager for deploying the message flows/sets to the broker.
So I guess what you are trying to ask is can you install config mgr DB on a remote machine. And the answer is Yes. In WBIMB 5.0 the role of config mgr has changed significantly, it no longer maintains the message flows/sets repository, so you can do all your work on Toolkit without even connecting to the config mgr. I guess, the impact will be minimal if you are using remote config mgr DB.
I wouldn't recommend having a remote Config Mgr DB in WMQI 2.1. _________________ Kiran

May I ask why? Is this simply because it will slow down access to flows & sets? Or something more worrying?
Thanks,

Yes. It will slow down almost all Control Center operations that deals with Message Flows and Message Sets. _________________ Kiran
