Does anyone know if it is possible to install the MQ MMC Snapin without installing the full blown MQSeries.

This is indeed very interesting.
I have managed to use the MQExplorer for remote management.
That is, also using it for a user not being a memeber of the mqm group.
Normaly you can only use MQExplorer by forcing the MCAUSER that is member of the mqm group on the remote machine (ie mqm).

And the next step would be installing this mmc snap in without a complete server install. Which should be possible. But just copying the mm.exe and the mmc config file did not work. Probably we need some dll´s too.
Maybe even registering some DLL´s with regsvr32.exe in the registry.

No, this is not possible as there are too many dependencies as far as I am aware on the internals of the server product. Effectively you would end up copying too much to be called a cut down version. Its a shame though, and many people have asked for such functionality... Sorry!
