I've had 4 days of general training on MQ Series and Workflow, and now my task is to learn how we can interface with the Workflow process using Java.
The APIs for Workflow seem extensive and overwhelming. I've printed out the Programmer's Guide and I'm going through it, but I think I need a little higher-level explanations and overviews to really get going, rather than digging into the APIs directly to begin with.
Can anyone help me with the following?
1) Is there a better starting point for learning how the Java APIs work, how they interface with the workflow server, what the limitations are, etc?
2) Is there a good, stand-alone example I could use to get started with? I have an MQ Workflow server installed, and a test process installed and running. I would like an example which, for example, just gives me a list of work items for user X. Then I could view the source and see how it connects, which APIs it uses, etc. That would be extremely helpful.
3) I would like to know what the overall experience is with working with Java<->Workflow. Is it overwhelming or fairly straight-foward once you get started? Are there any wrappers available around the APIs which simplify the whole process?
My end goal will be to have processes running in MQ Workflow, which our existing java web application will then query to give users a list of work items to perform and allow them to fill out forms to do so. The web app will be on a separate box (no using built-in web client) and needs to communicate to the MQ Workflow server to get and send all the data needed to complete tasks in the workflow.
Thanks!

Actimpl is a good guide to a PEA java implementation
C:\Program File\MQSeries Workflow\SMP\java\actimpl
HelloApplication is a good guide to the application interface
C:\Program File\MQSeries Workflow\SMP\java\HelloApplication
There are also support packs -
JGATT is an arcane API exerciser
RDF is a Web Client customiser (JSP)
UPES is an XML implemenation of the API _________________ Brian S. Crabtree
