We are planning to consloidate the MQ servers and one idea was to run MQ on VMWare.
Has anyone installed MQ 5.3 on linux vmware servers ?
Any info on this will be helpful.

What do you think will be the problem?
I run VMWare on my laptop and use the Windows version (Host=2000, Guests are NT, 2000 and XP) and MQ runs fine in those environments.

Michael,
Thanks for the reply. I know it runs on WIn2K vmware platforms, but just want to know if it will work the same way on linux platform.
If we decide to run on vmware and linux - it will be validated production environment, so want to make sure if it works and IBM will support it.
I am not sure what will be the issues, just based on past experience, there does seem to be platform issues (like running MQ / MQSI on Active dir. servers etc...), hence I posted this Q. _________________ Cheers!

QMan,
i didn't realise this myself, but just read that VMWare is going to be bought by EMC (http://www.theregister.com/content/61/34523.html). In the article there is a mention of Microsoft not supporting it's operating systems on VMWare formally as there used to be some interest from Microsoft in the company and they were not...
Better check with the supplier of your linux distribution whether they formally support VMWare. I wonder what IBM's position is about running WebSphere MQ on a platform that runs in a 'virtual PC'. On the other hand IBM itself has an OEM license with VMWare...
anyone from IBM support?
