I have messages coming from outside partners through a UNIX system to OS/390. They are sending an exclaimation '!' and it is coming into the MF as X'4F'. Our CCSID on the OS/390 system is 500. For some reason we are seeing this as a '|'. Can someone explain? Does it have to do with the CCSID of the MF? For straight character conversion, should I change the CCSID to 037?? What are the implications of doing this?
The conversion is being done correctly. It's just that the ! character maps to the | character in the code page you're using. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general.
