Hey-
How are the applications on the legacy system are invoked when a message is placed on a queue. Is it thru triggering?. If so then how frequently are these triggering prog. run?. I do have theoritical knowledge but please let me know how it is implemented in the real world. Thanks.

In the real world as in theory there as many roads... Probably every theoretical solution is implementated somewhere...
The solutions I come across and advice most when triggering is needed, to use trigger first, and let the triggered program read until the queue is empty... wait a little longer (for some lazy messages ) then end and reinstate the trigger first ...
