I want to implement clustering in our MQSeries 5.2 environment. The main reason I am wanting to move in this direction is the reduced administration benefit. I have been thru the clustering manual (and this board a bit) and have our development environment running in cluster fashion. All is working fine.
I have seen some posts here giving me concern about implementing the cluster on 5.2. Unfortunately, the entities that control the upgrade paths around here don't really answer to no one and it's anybody's guess when we will upgrade (our WMQI upgrade from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 was less than a year ago). Of course, the goal of reduced administration would be defeated if I introduce production problems. Rough outlay of our environment:
8 QMs (solaris, aix, NT 4)
Volume: Less than 1000 transactions a day
Any input is appreciated.
Use the reduced overhead of administering a cluster part of the benefit of upgrading to 5.3, and as an ongoing cost of *not* upgrading. I'm quite sure the people responsible for doing system upgrades are responsible to the people paying their salaries.
Along with not being able to get support from IBM for 5.2 if you do have production problems. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general.
