My company has MQSeries 5.2. I have an application using the Java Client Classes (we have the MA88 service pak installed) on a Solaris 8 machine.
My company is having some performance issues with a different application running on the Solaris 8 box and they want to upgrade to Solaris 9 as soon as possible.
I'm a bit nervous of running into any problems with my application. Does anybody know if MQSeries 5.2 runs perfectly happily on Solaris 9?
So far I have only found the following documentation... but it doesn't say anything specific about Solaris 9...
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/integration/mqfamily/library/manualsa/amqdac03/amqdac03tfrm.htm
(Select 'Software Requirements' from the tree on the left, under 'Part1,
Chapter 1')
The document says that later versions will work unless otherwise documented. Does anybody know where I would find this updated documentation if it exists? or does anybody already know the answer to my question?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not sure about documentation, but I've run MQ on Solaris 9 before without any problems (at least that I noticed). However, this was running a queue manager, as opposed to the client. _________________ Brandon Duncan

Thank you bduncan. Even that information helps because in some ways the client classes BEHAVE like another queue manager on the client machine.
If anybody else can clarify the situation for the client classes further, please respond to this thread. If I find out any more information, I'll post it here also.
Thanks |

That is good to know -- thank you... I think at this point though, my company would prefer to stay with MQSeries 5.2 in the short term (just because they would have several different projects company wide that they would need to test if they upgraded MQSeries -- and that would require a lot of co-ordination and planning).
At least we know that upgrading MQ would officially support Solaris 9, so thank you for that bit of information.
If anybody could provide more information regarding MQ 5.2 working with Solaris 9, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. |

I don't know about 5.2 and Solaris9 but I can tell you this about 5.2: It will be unsupported by IBM as of 12/31/2003, just 9 weeks away. Now you got 2 reasons to force them to upgrade to 5.3! _________________ Peter Potkay

I'll definately pass on that bit of information to the company.
If anybody does come across any further information regarding MQ 5.2 and Solaris 9 in the mean time, please post it here.
Thanks.
