Using the control command amqsput on a windows/solaris environment I was able to put a single message or the number of messages I desire.

But while using amqsget I am getting all the messages in the queue. I want to get only one message or desired number of message. For this, as of now I am doing it by writing a program in java. The same I want to achieve using control commands. Can anyone help me in this regard?

You can use command line options from java applications.

Or you could modify the source for amqsget to do what you want. But it sounds like you're more comfortable with Java.
