After the Blaster et al Hotfixes (see Subject line) applied by our ServerOps, we (MQ support) had occurence of application being unable to interact w/ Q's via API on one box. This is on Windows Server 4.0 SP6a running WebSphere MQ 5.3 CSD 4. Have ~50 servers running MQ 5.2/5.2.1 (various CSD's) & 5.3 CSD's 3 & 4 okay on Win2k Pro/Server & Win4.0 Server platforms with same Hotfixes applied; just this one 'problem child'.
Windows' Application Event Viewer log contains:
WebSphere MQ encountered the following network error: The RPC server is unavailable.
MQ failed to successfully complete a network operation due to the specified error.
Ensure that your network is functioning correctly.
Same (verbatim) reported in Q's AMQERR01.LOG:
WebSphere MQ encountered the following network error: The RPC server is unavailable.
MQ failed to successfully complete a network operation due to the specified error.
Ensure that your network is functioning correctly.
Suggestions welcomed.
Thanx,

Found a solution to this problem (probably not best or only one but...).
Set the local MUSR_MQADMIN's password to something so that we knew what it was (vs. the automatically generated behind the scenes one that we don't know).
Logged in to this local account (i.e.: BOXNAME_AS_DOMAIN\MUSR_MQADMIN) and re-ran "Prepare WebSphere MQ Wizard" from start menu.
Afterwards, all worked flawlessly!
Why? Someone tell me and we'll both know.
Reminder: Have dozens and dozens of MQ 5.2/5.3 servers running on both Win4.0Server and W2kServer platforms; this only happened once on one after the MS security patches (see original note). Weird! _________________ Brian Deschene
