Hi Folks,
I am not quiet clear about the types of error messages that will be stored in
c:/mqseries/errors/
c:/mqseries/qmgrs/QMGRNAME/errors
also what is the difference between the secondary and primary log files.
when i create the log files using the "lp and ls" options while creating the queue manager where exactly these files will be located?
Can some one give me the directory structure of these files and the kinds of messages stored in them.
Also When a serior MQSeries Internal error occurs where will that be stored?
Thank you

MQSeries has two kinds of logs. They serve different purposes. The one you are talking about is an error log - errors and varoius messages describing the work of the queue manager go there. Error logs are located in:
../qmgrs/YOURQMGR/errors/AMQERR01.LOG .. AMQERR03.LOG
../qmgrs/@system/errors/
../qmgrs/errors/
All the logs are plain text files, you can read them
If you have a problem, look at those files (most recent errors are always in AMQERR01.LOG)
The second kind of log is for storing persistent messages and object definitions, so that after a crash you can recover your manager. They are stored in location specified during creation of the queue manager, by default in ../qmgrs/YOURQMGR.logs
The recovery logs are binary files. _________________ Marcin Grabinski <>< |

I am also trying to hunt down these transaction logs, but they do not exist in this directory you have specified. they all end with a .log extension ? |

On Windows, the queue manager's log files are stored in the following directory (assuming a default install):
C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\log\XXXXX\active
Where "XXXX" is your queue manager's name.
