I got a problem that needs to be addressed urgently and I wonder if you could help me. This weekend, I would like to build a new workflow server to replace an existing wf server. Data in our existing workflow server have been archived into a separate database on daily basis. This will continue with the new workflow server. Our custom application currently relies on the process instance IDs to generate reports on these existing data.
My concern is that when we move to the new workflow server, will new process instance have unique ids? How are process instance ID generated?
PLEASE ADVISE..... _________________ Regards

I do not see a problem. Just to support what you are doing, recently we had to move from 3-tier architecture to 2-tier and on to enirely new hardware. We have created from scratch everything on our 2-tier set up, then ported FMCDB on to new set up and everything worked fine. However, there are some issue while porting FMCDB, which your DBA should easily figure out |

Tim:
I assume you are concerned about the persistent OIDs being unique between the new and old systems. I THINK that you will be OK, but I would suggest that you post this to the IBM newsgroup, and get a definitive answer from the developers.

Thank ucbus/john,
FYI, I posted the question to IBM and here is the respond
"I spoke with the Lab and the Process Instance ID is generated using the Workflow system name and a time stamp in the form of the DB2 UTC format. So, since it incorporates a time stamp you should not have an issue with it being unique." _________________ Regards
