Does anyone know under what circumstances we would get the error AMQ9534? We had a network outage and once connectivity was restored we were unable to start the channel at the SDR end, it went into a retrying state. The following message was in the error log at the RCVR end:
08/19/03 09:45:30
AMQ9534: Channel 'ETRANS.AU201P1.01N' is currently not enabled.
EXPLANATION:
The channel program ended because the channel is currently not enabled.
ACTION:
Issue the START CHANNEL command to re-enable the channel.
When I issued START CHANNEL on the RCVR channel we were able to start the channel at the SDR end.
The entry for the error in the Messages manual is not very helpful:
AMQ9534 Channel '&3' is currently not enabled.
Explanation: The channel program ended because the channel is currently not enabled.
User Response: Issue the START CHANNEL command to re-enable the channel. |

Channel disabled means that the current state of channel is in a "not running" state or "stopped" state.
If you issued a "stop channel" on your receiver channel and not the sdr channel, the rcvr goes into a stopped/disabled state whereas the sdr still remains in a running state. When it reaches its HBINT, it tries to establish a connection again. And it fails since the rcvr was manually stopped. You gotta start the rcvr manually so as to get it into "enabled" state again. Now the next time the sdr comes in for hand-shaking, the rcvr responds and the channel comes up.
Hope this explaination helps.

So are you saying the only way this can happen is if someone manually stops the RCVR channel? Because no one's admitting to having done that.... |

What i am saying is what is meant by a "disabled" state. And the one way i know of which is very common to hit is to manually stop the rcvr channel. This doesnt mean that this is what you faced. I am just giving you options to investigate this further with any information that could be helpful in the same.
Cheers
