I am planning on migrating from 3.3.2 to 3.4
Has anybody prepared a list of the things to be done (and the order of doing them) and save me from preparing it again?
( Things not listed in the installation guide)
Thanks

We are also planning on migrating from 3.3 to 3.4 around the end of september. I will send you a list of 'to dos' then if you are still interested. |

Venny,
What platform are you doing the migration on?

We have done it on Windows test box. It went on OK. We are trying to do it on an AIX box now. DB2 and MQ are not upgraded to their latest level yet. They are DB2 7.2 FP9 and MQ 5.2 CSD06
Are there any things to watch out for?
Thanks

I did an AIX migration on a test box and I can tell you a couple of things to watch for:
1) If you are following the PDF document, when you get to "Uninstalling MQ Workflow on UNIX", if you click on this link and then the link specific to AIX, it puts this section title right in the middle of the page. This is where you want to start and not at the top where it lists several fmzinsx .... -r steps.
Don't do the fmczinsx steps. Just save a copy of /usr/lpp/fmc/fmcrc and then remove the code using SMIT.
2). When you install the new code with SMIT, don't select ALL_LATEST. Use browse and select everything you want EXCEPT the automatic configuration to prevent it from trying to create the FMC config for you.
My MQ was already at CSD05 which is supported for 3.4 so I did the workflow upgrade and tested. And then did the MQ 5.3 upgrade. I didn't go through a DB migration at the time.
Hope this helps,

Thanks Charlie:
I'll make a note of them.
But I am stuck at one other thing. I have a centralized BT DB and the developers connect their GUI pointing to this centralized DB. I have the Workflow server and Runtime DB on the same box.
Now inorder to migrate to MQWF 3.4, how do I proceed is the question.
1. Upgrade both RT and BT to 3.4 and use the 3.3.2 BT GUI on the developer's boxes until it is upgraded
2: Upgrade only RT to 3.4 and leave BT DB as it is until all the developer's machines are upgraded to 3.4 and then do the BT DB upgrade.
I am in a dilemma to which one to follow.
Any thoughts????
Thanks

I guess you can do something like this:
Leave the BTDB at 332 and create a new 3.4 BTDB.
Take the FDL and load the 3.4 BTDB.
Load 3.4 BT on developer workstation and point to 3.4 BTDB.
Once all users are updated remove the 332 BTDB. _________________ -Ratan |

I tested this
MQWF 3.4 BuildTime Database on one box
MQWF 3.3.2 BuildTime GUI on another box.
I tried to point MQWF 3.3.2 BuildTime GUI to the WMQWF 3.4 BuildTime Database. It gives me an error "Incorrect version of the BuildTime Database".
I did not take the pain of doing the vice versa though.

But why do you want 332 bt to point to 34 btdb? _________________ -Ratan |

Venny,
I am fairly certain that you will have to migrate all the b/t clients at the same time that you migrate the db, otherwise the bind files will not match the code level.
