I am unable to get the Control Center to let me specify the Repeat Count Type for a CWF element. It will not enable the control.
I need to specify the Repeat Count type as Value Of, not Count, and I can't.
The element I'm trying to specify the Repeat Count Type for is nested like this: It's the Detail record that I want to repeat, and will repeat based on a value in the Header.

You might have to create a single Type that consists of all the fields in the Header followed by the Type of the Detail.
That's how I've got one defined.

The Repeat Count Type of 'Value Of' allows you to select a previous field on which you can base your number of repetitions. However, this has a limitation that this Numeric field has to appear before the field that is repeating, and has to be at the same Level in the definition as the repeating field. So in your example. you want 'Detail' to repeat, but there is no numeric field that appears before the 'Detail' compound element and so this is why it would not let you select it.
As the previous update suggests you need to change your header definition such that the field that controls the repeats is at the same level as Details.
Also in this description I have used the term numeric field, but it might actually have to be an INTEGER logical type, but Im not 100% certain of this. _________________ Regards

Okay. That makes some sense, and is relatively useful.
Wouldn't it be nice if the manual were more explicit about this? Maybe I'll file a PMR.
I'll give it a try and if it works, I'll be back to mark this solved. |

Just a closing comment that this did resolve my problem. |
