Yep!! IBM just loves to violate the KISS principle ... don't they.

Definitely need to study it ... but an example or two with a walk through the table might approximate the original 1/2 page/paragraph of the original algorithm.

You know the developer of the algorithm didn't start with a table ... maybe just a statement that gives the 80-90 percent exposition of how the resolution algorithm works would be nice ...

A well written English prose paragraph with properly chosen (non-ambigous)and accurate vocabulary, that is properly punctuated actually can convey quite clearly, insight and understanding to subtle even opaque concepts and algorithms better than tables !!
