more update on the subject.
Short Story Version
You now have 2 Template styles to choose from. Login with your ID, select your Profile on the bar below the logo, then select the Board Style that has a pull down that will give you 2 options to pick from, zeroSpace (the current one), or the new one called DAJ_Glass. Whichever you pick you MUST do a Submit at bottom of Profile page for it to take affect and be used as your default one going forward.
the long story version:
we experimented with several templates (built 3 new ones in fact). In addition, multiple attempts to change dark background color to a lighter one did not produce great results, so we left that one till we could play with it more later.
The good news is that we will initially offer members a choice of 2 styles to select from: The Default one called 'zeroSpace' will be as we had done 2 days ago but with a couple minor enhancements, the dark background persists and we will see what more can be done to better it later. The 2nd one called DAJ_Glass is now available as a member selectable optional item from within your Profile selections. Pick the one you want via the Board Style pulldown and along with any other changes you want (please consider updating and keeping your personal information current), submit your changes. You MUST do a Submit of your profile setting (found at bottom of the profile page) before it takes affect.
I hope that most of you will like one or the other of 2 offered choices.
All the best. |

That counts as an announcement...
I like DAJGlass a lot better! Thanks for the prompt attention, Mehrdad, and thank your team, too. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Switched to DAJGlass!!!
still I would prefer the original SubSilver default template that comes with phpBB ...
you could call it MQSeries.netClassic _________________ Michael

And I will second this!
It's a style I could learn to love. At least it's not one I have to learn to read!
Again with the thanks to the team. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Gets my vote too!
Both the new formats are confusing in the way they show if new posts are available. I'm using DAJ_Glass, so I'll use that format for my examples.
If a topic is single-page (that is, less than 15 replies) there is a very noticeable difference between the dark envelope indicating new posts and the light envelope indicating no new posts. However, once a topic becomes multi-page the difference between the two goldish colored envelopes is hardly noticeable. |

DAJGlass is much much better - would still prefer SubSilver, but at least I can read again! (And the icons are much easier to tell which forum area has new messages too) |

Interesting - they're 2 very different shades on this rather dubious monitor I'm using.
But just highlights that this whole scheme thing is going to come down to personal choice and circumstances. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Ditto, on the consensus of the blue color choice -- as the critic's on former TV show 'In Living Color' would say: 'Hated it!!'
other wise seems nice. _________________ "Truth is ... grasping the virtually unconditioned",

Change is always good.
But.....
1. The readability of the site is not good.
2. For some reason I feel as if I have a feeling that the site does not seem like a professional ( for lack of better word) . I mean to say take a look at generic sites like slashdot etc. I was told during my usability class that the professional sites needed to be less flashy and more user friendly. |

Agreed, much much better
Whilst the look of the site is being tinkered with how about enabling RSS subscriptions. I know it it possible for phpBB based forums. _________________ Bob Buxton

I just want to put in my vote for a white back ground. This is too difficult to read. |
