I'm debating reasons for running multiple versions of MQ Series on our Unix servers. Operating system levels prevent me from a total MQ 5.2 upgrade, however I can upgrade all to v5.1. I would like to solicit discussion on the differences between the 2 versions to determine my best upgrade path. Thanks.

Since you didnt specifiy which Unix Version
1) if you have more than 3 applications attaching to a single queue on HPUX
Then v5.2 will provide a big performance boost.
2) If you have large log files and or a large database on HPUX then v5.2
will help reduce the shared memory footprint by not mapping the log files
into non-private shared memory (There is a limit of 1.75gb on HPUX 10.20)
3) V5.1 support was dropped at 12/31/01 (if you have IBM Support)

We're running Sun Solaris. I assume that the shared memory issue with log files is also appropriate for this OS? Our biggest issue is with shared memory on Solaris.
Thanks for the info and the comment on support of v5.1.
