Hi Guys,
i'm learning how this product works --- i'm using the product supplied manuals to configure Websphere MQI v2.1 [i currrently have no CSDs installed]
I am stuck @ the point where i have to 'register' a broker in the control center under Topology View. [ my userID is a member of ALL the mqbrdevt, mqbrasgn, mqbrkrs, mqbrops and mqbrtpic groups ].
When i right-click the Topology nothing happens, and when i click the Domain Hierarchy menu -- the Create Broker, Check In and Check Out buttons are greyed out .
what could be denieng me access to register my broker?
any help will be appreciated.
thanx - rox. |

Hi,
Is the Control Center on the same machine as the Config Manager?
If not, make sure that you have a user defined on the Config Manager's machine that has the same name as the user on your Control Center machine, and make that user a member of those groups. (errr... hope that makes sense!)

hi mqmatt,
thanx for the reply - i was able to register my broker after i rebooted my machine - i guess even loging out & back in to the machine would have solved the problem.
Thanx again - Rox. |

If you're just learning, I would highly recommend learning v5 instead of 2.1.
Or at least, learning how to migrate from 2.1 to 5. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanx jeffowrey,
the reason i'm learning 2.1 is that my company just moved me to the middleware team and they still using 2.1 - but they've just bought v5 - so i've been given +/- 4 months to learn and then migrate. |

Then I'd concentrate on learning the 5.0 product - and just enough of the 2.1 product to know how to export things.
But most of that is in the Migration guide, I believe. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
