In monitoring my JMS Client application, I see that JMS client access the queue managers through the Server connection called SYSTEM.DEF.SRVCONN. For server connections, the batch size is not configurable, it is grayed out from the console and it says in the docuementation that BATCH_SZ is only for the other types of channel. How are server connection batch sizes configured? What is the default setting for this?
Thanks and regards,

Batch control is only valid for channels that carry data from one Queue Manager
to another. MQ Client is not a qmgr to qmgr communications, you are writing/reading directly(through network) the MQ Queues.

Tyrone,
for server-server connections the batch size determines the syncpoint frequency of message exchanges between two message channel agents. It might be platform-dependent, but I think the default value is 50. There are a couple of performance support pacs available on IBM's MQ website that contain details about the effect of this attribute on channel throughput. As you already found out, this does not apply to client channels, which by design have a 'batch size' of 1...
HTH,
Stefan
