Hi All,

I have been trying to remove a full repository queue manager from a
cluster that has four queue managers.

There are two full repositories.

I followed all the steps given in the cluster manual.
here are the steps i followed :

1. Alter the queue manager for repos and reposnl to be null.
2. Suspend the queue manager
3. alter the cluster receiver channel
4. stop the cluster receiver channel
5. delete the cluster receiver channel
6. stop and delete the cluster sender channels.

also i did not hurry up in following the steps. I gave a lot of time in between the suspend queue manager command and the next command and so on.

but the other full repository and also the other two queue managers in the cluster still show connections to the queue manager that i intend to remove and also this queue manager still shows cluster sender channels to the other full repository queue manager though i had issued a delete channel command.

the cluster sender channel in the other full repository shows a status as retrying !

please can anyone let me know as to where i am going wrong or what is the ideal time taken for a full repository queue manager to be removed completely from the cluster.

Of course it does. It tries to connect to a channel that is not existing anymore. If you want the QM still to be part of the cluster you must not delete the cluster receiver. Elsewise, you also have to get rid of the additional 'inter full repository' CLUSSDR channel.

Sorry, but I've got to ask some trivial questions:

If you do a dis clusqmgr('TheFullReposToGetRidOf') on the other full repos does it say SUSPEND(YES)? If it doesn't the suspend has not worked.

When you cleared the REPOS and REPOSNL attributes, did you check whether it worked?
If you do specify ALTER QMGR REPOS() it will not do anything. You have to do ALTER QMGR REPOS('') to make it work.

After you told the QMGR not to be a fullrepository anymore, please check on at least one of the partial repository QMs whether they have recognized it. If not, I think a REFRESH CLUSTER REPOS(YES) wouldn't do harm.

cheers

Sebastian

Common problem....

I did this tiny bit on removing a cluster qmgr.
http://mrmq.dk/tips_and_tricks.htm#HOW%20to%20remove%20a%20Queue%20Manager%20from%20a%20Cluster%20after%20problems....
(And if it's a full repos remeber to delete to CLUSSDR from the other REPOS qmgr too)....... This can cause smoe noise...

Just my $0.02
