Hi All
I have three basic queries ,,,,
1. On Windows NT , when we install MQ series, " IBM MQ Series " gets added as a NT service & the same holds good for any MQSI Component created ,,like Config Mgr, Broker,,,,
what is the relation , dependency between the following ...
1. " IBM MQ Series " - NT service
2. The running of individual Q Mgrs on that Machine.
3. Running of MQSI components...on the same Machine.
some times when i start the MQSI component the corresponding Q mgr will start ( it has to start )& the " IBM MQ Series " - NT service , does not start ...is that possible????? please elaborate ...
2 .what gets created ( physically like files ) on a machine , when a MQ series object / MQSI Object ,,like Q , Channel or broker is created ??? ,,how it can be verified?
3. what gets created ( physically like files ) on a machine , when MQSI objects are deployed on a machine....
Thanking you in anticipation...

I can answer this one
1. " IBM MQ Series " - NT service controls the start/stop of all qmgrs on the box that are set to start automaticaly.

The dspmqfls command shows which files are created for MQ objects, see the System Administration manual. One of the appendices of this manual shows the NT directory structure.

Q1: u dont need IBM MQSeries running in service to start Qmgr. but if u stop it while Qmgr is running then Qmgr stops. and if services are not running probably
ur listner channelinitiater etc wont run (unless u run it with runmqlsr or runmqchi)
Q2: you can check in folder C:Program FilesMQSeriesqmgrs
I dont have much to say on MQSI

When a broker is created on a system following objects are created,
1. Broker specific queues on broker's queue manager.
2. Database tables for the broker in broker database.
3. on NT installs a service under which the broker will run.
4. A record for the component is created in the broker registry.
Similar objects are created for Configuration Manager and User Name Server. Configuration manager creates database tables in Configuration repository and MRM repository. UNS does not deal with databases.
