Right click on My computer. Go to manage - services - Select Apache Tomcat and Start it. In the meantime, I am going to find out why your menus are not matching with the instructions or the other way around .

Ok. Got it. Use "Configure Tomcat" Instead of "Manage Tomcat" I will correct the instructions. Thank You.

Cheers.

I just re-read your post and I am not sure if you are having difficulties logging into Tomcat or Qflex. Can you clarify.

thanks for reply..

I can't find "Manage Tomcat" selection from Tomcat start menu.
I have
1. configure tomcat
2. monitor tomcat
3. program directory

Thanks.

So were you able to start Tomcat? If not, choose configure tomcat instead of Manage Tomcat and it will have the same screen allowing to start the app server.

You are most likely failing to connect to the database. Could you please zip up ur C:\home\QFLEX\logs and %TOMCAT_ROOT\logs directories and send them to qflex@netflexity.com

You had a problem with your password. I sent you an email how to resolve that issue. I will post final instructions to this thread once the problem is resolved.

Will there be support for other jdbc compliant databases, specifically SQL Server?

What's the catch? There has to be one...

Qflex already supports MS SQL Server using http://jtds.sourceforge.net/
JDBC Driver and we found the performance to be actually slightly(insignificantly) better than with MySQL.

However it's support is only available to customers who subscribed for 24x7 commercial support.
The reason for that is not out of greed but because we have X amount resources that are working on future versions of Qflex which is priority#1, priority#2 is making sure it works right on the main development platform which is Tomcat/MySQL, #3 is support for other databases. A shift in priorities comes at a co$t that many commercial subscribers are willing to cover.

Yeah, it's much harder supporting multiple databases than people think. Even when all the databases have JDBC drivers. At my current company we support MSSQL, Oracle, and DB2, and you'd be amazed how many nuances each DB has. And every time we release a new version, we have to QA the entire product against each of the three databases.

Heiho - was able to install it without problems. However, I discovered 2 issues:

I set up a monitor "queue manager down" with notification SMTP and an interval of 1 minute and an interval between occurences of 60 minutes. I then stopped the queue manager. What happens is, that I get an alert mail every 1 minute (1st issue) and the Webconsole (under "existing alerts") stays empty (2nd issue). The manual says, that regardless of notification method, the alert is shown in the web console. As far as I understand, the interval between occurences should just send out 1 notification in between this interval.

This brings me to a little suggestion: Is it planned to let the user choose more than one notification method at a time?

Best regards,
Guenther

Guenther -
Thanks for the feedback and the bug report. Within next few releases you will be able to select notification groups - multiple email addresses and multiple notification types including AOL instant message.
As far as the bugs, those will be addressed within next two days at most. Stay tuned for a patch release.

Thanks a lot.

Guenther -
This problem had been resolved in Qflex 1.0.12. See our website for more details.

Qflex 1.0.20 had been released last night. This version now supports
QoS monitoring capable of alerting based on various messsage enqueue/dequeue rates as well as based on the presense of stale messages on the queue.

Cheers,
Mikhail.

Hi Malammik,
Can I just go ahead and install the war file for Qflex express without using Tomcat or MySQl.
Can I just install and run the app on Apache, WAS & DB2400 instead?

thanks Niall.
