SunTrust Banks, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, is one of the nation’s top 10 commercial banking organizations. SunTrust offers great benefits and compensation as well as a professionally challenging and stimulating work environment. We have a large IT shop (4,500 people) and there’s much room for growth and appreciation of skilled professionals who want to do interesting work.
We have an opening for a Middleware Architect/J2EE Developer responsible for the software architecture of EAI solutions and distributed applications for the enterprise. The Architect/Developer will direct methods and standards around development of software solutions for multiple projects. He/she will be responsible for the operational support, design and architecture of the developed application integration solutions in partnership with application delivery teams, the information architecture group and the technical operations group.
Specific Skills and Applications Supported
• Experience as software solutions architect and developer with enterprise application integration and/or distributed systems programming teams using technologies such as J2EE, WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere MQ (formerly MQSeries), BEA WebLogic, CORBA, TxSeries, CICS and/or other application integration related technologies in the UNIX environment.
• Experience with retail bank, corporate/wholesale bank or large scale financial processing application systems and operations a plus.
• Familiarity with operations monitoring tools such as Candle, Unicenter, Tivoli, or Openview
• Successful with multiple complex integration projects specifically using J2EE/ Websphere, or other distributed EAI integration technologies.
• Highly proficient in communicating and coordinating information technology solutions and processes that aggressively support business objectives.
• Strong written/verbal communication skills and customer/client presence
• Participates in strategic planning, including project estimating and initiatives.
• Unified process or other CMM Level 2 or 3 iterative software development methodology
• Proven ability to effectively deliver services, provide technical leadership to multiple delivery teams and assist in the building of effective delivery teams.
• Stays current with emerging technologies, industry best practices and partners with the appropriate technology group within SunTrust Bank’s Enterprise Information Services division.
• Shows initiative, is a self-starter, able to handle multiple priorities and has excellent time management skills.
Minimum Requirements:
• 5+ years reaching a senior level of proven architecture and development experience in implementation of complex, integrated business applications across a variety of distributed environments.
• 3+ years Java, J2EE, WebSphere, and other middleware related integration technologies such as WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere MQ, WMQI, WBI, and Web services
• Strong written /verbal communication skills and customer/client presence
Optional Requirements:
• Strongly prefer experience designing and deploying solutions based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
• Experience with distributed development efforts (across more than one geographical location) and/or offshore development management experience
• Experience with quality assurance methodologies and technologies (Mercury suite, Compuware QA Load)
• Experience with, or working knowledge of, Microsoft Project and/or Primavera project management suite.
