Hi Nisa,
I think the answer depends on if you want to operate both versions concurrently or alternatively. I guess it is not possible on any distributed platform that I have installed MQ on, to have it work concurrently. With some contact admin tricks it might be possible to 'activate'.... no, I don't think that you want to try it.
It works fine on the OS/390 environment because all libraries and runtime components are nicely seperated from each other, but trying it on a Unix box is probably asking for a lot of trouble.
Maybe somebody has gone through that excercise and will correct me.
My 2 cents: don't try it. Anybody?

With the exception of OS/390 (z/OS) you can-not install two versions of MQSeries on the same box. Don't even try it. The queue managers expect files in certain locations and use named shared memory segments and other IPC resources. It will not work and is definitely not supported.
