Hi,

i got an short and simple question.

If i cluster MQ Series with MSCS will be the counters for the Channels be set automaticlly by failover?

So i mean,
if the channel CHANNEL.TEST hast the sequence(counter) 89 and then the one machine is going down. Is the sequence(counter) set automaticly 89 on the other or do i have to set this manually?

Thanks,
because i dont find anything about this topic in the help...

I don't know about windows platform but on UNIX platforms, for OS failover, you don't have to do this.

There wont be two copies of the logs .

The logs are kept in a Share Drive Ex. SAN. All the data relating to MQSeries is moved to SAN.

The data starting from Drive:\mqm\qmgrs is moved to SAN.

If MQSeries is up on Node A, it access SAN Drive and updates all the records including linear/circular logging .

When it fails over, the MQSeries is first brought down on Node A completely and then it is restarted on Node B.

when MQSeries starts on Node B, it reads all the logs from SAN Drive and builds an exact image as it is on Node B including messages on Queues, Channels ( & their seq No's).

The same applies to Unix also but the setup is little bit different as there are various Clustering softwares for different Unix Versions like Veritas for Solaris, HACMP for AIX ..... .

The Concept is same for all OS and for all the products.

Hope this clear the doubt you also Vennela
