Hi,
Quick question: is there anyway I can 'spy' a channel connection or maybe truss a listener or something to track down how many api calls a client is making?
I have a feeling one of my clients is strobing the queues constantly in the hope that something appears there (trying to force them to use the trigger monitor) but need to prove it.
Am on Solaris 8, WMQ 5.3 CD05 and the channel listener threads are each about 8-14 % utilisation on the box.
The box is now CPU bound by MQ. Not swapping. Bags of memory. Been over the kernel tweaks a few times. I need to prove it's just bad application design.
Or could be the listener running away and looping. Had some wierd errors recently with the channel 'reset by peer' then the channel listener falling over.
Many thanks

Depends how much effort you are willing to put into it.
You could configure the sample API exit, amqsaxe_r, in the qm.ini file, and keep track of the API calls made by each connection.
You could add a RCVEXIT to the channel, and count the API calls made. See the Intercomms manual (table 53) for how to tell what API call is being made by a client. |

Many thanks Nigel, I'll give that a shot.
