Hi All,
I am facing a problem where the messages sent from Windows QM are landing up as garbage in another application that runs on unix (VAX).
The setup is as below -
QM1 (windows) --> QM2 (unix) --> client connection(unix)
The data is readable on QM2, but the client running off that manager is reading garbled messages.
Both QM1 and QM2 are running on 5.3 version. I have also verifies the CCSID on the QM2 which is 819.
But wat could happen between QM2 and the client? Does the existence of some characters like +, (, ), make any difference ? The messages had these values.
Any suggestion would be very helpful.
Thanks. |

Assuming that your messages are all text, make sure that the format of your messages is MQSTR so that they can be converted by WMQ. If you run the amqsbcg sample against the message, you'll see what it is currently set at. |

The format of the message is set at MQSTR. I have verified it on both the QMs. But, the message is not plain text, it has chharacters like {, (, ), }, +, /,-,.
I believe the conversion is done by the server. Will there be any conversion issue when message is pulled out by the client ? |

Have you looked at your MQCCSID env variable?

Nope. I do not have access to the client, but have asked for confirmation on this variable.
But, my question is why would this happen only for a small set of messages. Why only for some charactes. If CCSID is wrong then the whole lot of messages shoulds be garbage. |
