Guys,
I have a situation where in we delivered a message to our client but do not have messageIds stored on our side. Now client came back and is saying we delivered duplicate messages to them and is providing me with the messageIds on his side.
Apart from our application logs, there is no way I could prove him otherwise..
That being the story, I wanted to use the MQ uniqueness of MessageID at the queue manager level to refute that argument.
My opinion is that the messageId is made up of queue manager name plus some extra information. So if I put messages on a queue manager there will be some symmetry in the first somany bytes of the MessageID.
So I can use that to say that all the messageIds on our queueu manager has to start with these bytes..
Now my questions is, Do you guys have any Idea how this message ID is created, I mean what is made up of??? _________________ Keka |

The method used to create a MsgId is described in the APR, MQMD, MsgId section. |

Remember as well that you are able to SET the msgID.
So you should not rely on its uniqueness unless your app ensures that the qmgr sets it all the time.
Enjoy |
